The Humboldt Innovation blog – what’s behind it
Humboldt Innovation was founded in 2005 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Humboldt University of Berlin with a clear goal: to effectively transfer university knowledge to business and society.
From the outset, it has operated at the interface between research and business, supported by targeted services such as contract research, start-up promotion, further education and networking formats, financed entirely from its own revenues without public subsidies.
With over 706 spin-offs and more than 2,900 research projects completed to date, Humboldt Innovation has taken on a central role in Berlin’s innovation ecosystem, raising over €3.8 billion in venture capital and supporting projects with €54 million in third-party funding.
Today, Humboldt Innovation offers targeted programmes such as the Humboldt Startup Programme, thematic incubators (e.g. K.I.E.Z. for AI technology) and financing advice (e.g. Transfer BONUS) – thus creating spaces where ideas can become viable businesses.
