New HI:LIGHTS: When Math becomes an Adventure
During elementary school, nearly one in three children in Germany suffer from significant learning difficulties. At least one in eight even meet the WHO criteria for a learning disability. Action is needed here. In cooperation with Ulisses Spiele, gamelab.berlin has developed the role-playing game ‘LIRA’. Supported by a DATI Innovation Sprint funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, the game allows children to playfully improve their math skills. Curious? 14th Ceremony of the Startup Awards
On June 4, Berliner Sparkasse and Science & Startups hosted the 14th edition of their Startup Awards, presenting the prizes to Blueprint Biomed, Porelio, and Spree Monitoring in front of 200 guests in Dahlem. Governing Mayor Kai Wegner was also in attendance and delivered the keynote speech. The awards were presented by the presidents of Berlin’s universities, Günter M. Ziegler, Julia von Blumenthal, and Fatma Deniz, alongside Senator for Science Ina Maria Czyborra and Olaf Schulz from Berliner Sparkasse.
